Bin Laden Dead? Bush might not want him dead...

There's an article in The Age about Bin Laden possibly being dead. I've wondered about this for a while...why hasn't he put out another video? But if he is dead, why wouldn't Bush and Co. want us to know about it. Maybe for the same reason they "let him go" at Tora Bora. Becuase having an enemy is good for business.

Just this morning, Lindsay Graham was on NPR saying that Bush being a "War President" is the main reason why Congress has been so permissive.

Imagine if we ended our war in Iraq, Saddam's trial was over, the Taliban was out of Afghanistan, and Bin Laden was dead. Bush would be hard pressed to come up with justification for many of his power grabs. Could he defend spying on US citizens with "we are at war?"

Just like how the Cold War served many purposes, so does it's sequal "the War on Terrorism." I don't expect it to end anytime soon...

****UPDATE****

Al Queda must read my blog, because right after I posted this, a new Bin Laden tape came out. According to the Times Online:

After technical analysis of the tape, CIA experts said that the man
speaking really was the al-Qaeda leader. The White House also appeared to be in
little doubt that bin Laden was back on the airwaves for the first time in more
than a year, and rejected his “truce”.

“I’m not sure what he’s offering by way of a truce,” said Dick Cheney,
the Vice-President. “I don’t think anybody would believe him. It sounds to me
like it’s some kind of ploy.”

In his message, bin Laden said: “The war against America and its allies
will not be confined to Iraq. Our Mujahidin were able to overcome all the
security measures in European countries, and you saw their operation in major
European capitals.

“As for similar operations taking place in America, it’s only a matter
of time. They are in the planning stages, and you will see them in the heart of
your land as soon as the planning is complete.”

The reference to attacks in Europe may be to those in London on July 7
last year. Bin Laden also cited American opinion polls showing support for a
troop withdrawal from Iraq, as well as recent reports claiming that Tony Blair
and George Bush discussed launching an airstrike against al-Jazeera.

Such clues would suggest that the tape was recorded in the past three
months

amen slc library boy! What would Mr. Bush do without the twin towers, the war on terrorism, the hunt for Bin Laden? Perhaps actually come clean and admit he went to Iraq for the big "O"...oil that is (black gold in case you never watched the Beverly Hillbilles). The US wanted to impeach a president over his lie about sexual relations, yet somehow it is ok that this president can lie about weapos of mass destruction, susequently killing thousands? Interesting society we live in!
